Hello. I am Dr. Chris Magiera, from Warsaw, Indiana, and I am running for the United States House of Representatives from the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana. On May 5 June 2, 2020, I will be challenging the incumbent, Representative Jim Banks, in the Republican primary election.
So, why should you vote for me instead of the career-politician incumbent? That is simple. It comes down to just one word: Constitution. Our constitutional, representative Republic was designed to limit the Federal government to only a few enumerated powers, and laws were to only be made in pursuance of our Constitution.
Unfortunately, things have not gone according to the plans of the Founders, Framers, and Ratifiers. In the last 120 or so years, under the Progressive Movement agenda, we have seen the development of the grotesque, massive, tyrannical, and debt-producing Administrative State.
But there is a remedy, and that is “The Constitution Solution.” If elected to be your Representative in Congress, I pledge to always legislate according to the original intent, meaning, and understanding of the Founders’ Constitution. And that means, especially, to adhere to the 18 limited powers of Congress found in Article 1, Section 8.
So, what would this mean in terms of voting? Well, looking at all 701 roll call votes taken by the House in 2019, I would have voted opposite to my opponent in 304 of those votes. That is 43 percent. You heard correctly: 43 percent. That is not a trivial difference.
So, now you have to wonder, why do all Republicans not vote according to the Constitution? That is a good question. Is it out of pragmatism, malice, or lack of constitutional knowledge? I don’t know, but you need to decide in 2020.
