In this video, Dr. Chris offers a solution to our excess of government agencies. Please see below for the transcript.
Hello. I am Dr. Chris Magiera, from Warsaw, Indiana, and I am running for the United States House of Representatives from the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana. On May 5 June 2, 2020, there will be a Republican Party primary election, in which I will be challenging the career-politician incumbent, Representative Jim Banks.
The primary focus of my campaign is that I believe in order to secure our God-given natural rights, the primary directive of every legislator must be to faithfully follow the intent of the Founders’ Constitution, always, with no exceptions. Constitutionality over utility.
While the Founders prescribed a Federal government with strictly limited and enumerated powers, the agenda of the progressive movement over the last 100+ years has distorted that directive and resulted in the creation of a massive, expensive, tyrannical administrative state.
So, what are we to do to restore the prescription of the Founders? With well over 460 (largely unconstitutional) federal agencies, commissions, committees, bureaus, boards, etc., the task is daunting. However, there is a solution: the Constitution solution. If an agency is not strictly supported by the original intent of the Founders’ Constitution, largely as expressed in Article 1, Section 8, it should be eliminated. But how to best accomplish that is a vexing problem.
Looking to the states—which, by the way, created the federal government—shows that there is a path forward. Sunset. Yes, Sunset. The sun rises, and, the sun sets. I suggest a federal program based on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. Nearly every agency of the great state of Texas is subject to abolishment every 12 years. The Commission evaluates each agency and makes a recommendation to the legislature with respect to abolishment, continuance, and needed changes. Since 1977, 92 agencies have been abolished.
Is this a perfect solution? No, but it is a start. We know that we cannot rely on Congress to reform itself, and, we know that we cannot rely on the federal courts to limit federal power. However, by bringing each individual agency out of the shadows of massive appropriations bills, we can demand accountability and transparency from our members of Congress.
Is this perfect? No, but what are the alternatives? Submit to tyranny? Exist in anarchy? Those are not acceptable choices. It will take members of Congress with exceptional leadership abilities to promote such changes. I submit to you, that, with the wisdom and virtue of my 37-year medical career, I can be such a leader.
So, in 2020, I urge you to vote to eliminate unconstitutional agencies and return to the limited federal government of the Founders. In the May 5 June 2, 2020 Republican Party primary election for the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana, I urge you to vote to secure your God-given natural rights. Vote for the Constitution solution. Vote for Dr. Chris Magiera for Congress. Thank you.
